In depth involvement with most aspects in the development of the Autosub AUV, with particular expertise in dynamic modelling, control systems, navigation, mission control, collision avoidance, and homing systems. The reliable integration of these complex technologies using structured software techniques and a modular, distributed system architecture. Developing expertise in the design and use of pressure balanced Lithium Ion Polymer batteries for 6000 m deep AUV operations. Has experience of managing technology development teams and of leading AUV operations teams for scientific and technical trials cruises, in a variety of environments including polar and under ice.
